I didn't think we would make it to Friday!

Well it looks like our busy birthday week is over. Cash had some friends over on Tuesday and we ate gumbo and spaghetti-a weird combo I know. We went through two pots of gumbo and 2 lbs of spaghetti! I thought we would have tons of leftovers but we didn't.

Last night Eddie and I went to see our friends Nick and Tara and their son Cade at Texas Children's. Poor little Cade had surgery on one of his lungs and ended up having extra blood vessels or something removed from his heart. He is only 6 months old and looked so cute in his little hospital bed. Luckily they had taken all of his tubes out because I don't know if Eddie and I could have looked at him without tearing up. While we there Tara got him out of his bed and he smiled at us a little bit and drank two little bottles of formula. Hopefully they will be going home today. Since it was also Eddie's birthday we went to eat at El Tiempo. Its not a fancy place but they have the best fajitas and homemade tortillas. One thing I hate about going to mexican food restaurants right now is having to look at the margaritas I can't have. So to make myself feel better I had a sopapilla. Needless to say I had to sleep in an upright position in the recliner last night.

Tonight my friends Alesha and Shelby are coming in. These are two of my best friends from Tarleton. Transferring to Tarleton was one of the best things I ever did and these girls are proof of that. In the beginning moving to Stephenville was because of Eddie, obviously, but the friendships I made there are like no other in my life. Alesha also has a three year old little boy and even though this isn't the first time Cash and Jace have been around each other, it's the first time they can actually play and enjoy each other's company. I think the last time we were together with all the kids Cash was just starting to walk. Eddie has offered to watch the boys tomorrow night so us girls can go have dinner. I don't know if he realizes what he has gotten himself into.

I do have a few pictures from Cash's birthday and I will download those this weekend.

Breakdown

Just thought I would share my emotional break down I had this morning. For some reason last night I started getting really sad about having to work on Cash's birthday, which is tomorrow. Even though he will be at my grandmother's house swinging on his new swing set having a great time, I want to be with him. When I got to work this morning I said something to the secretary about taking the day off. She laughed at me because we are giving the kids a practice TAKS test tomorrow. My job is great when it comes to holidays and summer vacation but sometimes finding a sub is such a pain. I literally teared up and sat in my classroom and cried for about 10 minutes! I felt so stupid!! Anyway, the secretary knew I was upset and I ended up telling her why I wanted to take off and she completely understood. I told her today was one of those days that being a pregnant, working mother got to me. So I put in for a sub and luckily someone picked it up! I am still going to come in the morning to get the kids started on the test so the sub won't have to worry about it but I will get to spend the rest of the day with Cash. We are having a birthday dinner for him tomorrow night also so I will be able to decorate and everything without being in a rush. Hopefully I can make it to April 17th without another breakdown! I know now why my friend Trish took a year off while she was pregnant.

The Background

January is a big birthday month in my family. Some birthdays have already passed: my mom on the 12th and my cousin Savannah on the 13th. Coming up is Cash's 3rd birthday on the 27th, my future B-I-L on the 28th, and Eddie and Becky's on the 29th. This is Eddie and Becky's 30th birthday! So far neither of them act bothered by the big 3-0 but I think the closer it gets their attitudes might change.

I have decided not to do a big birthday for Cash this year. I know that sounds bad but we are all so burned out! We are going to have a small gathering at the house the night of his birthday though. I am going to make his favorite dish, noodles, and Eddie is going to make gumbo. Cash really likes Mickey Mouse so that will probably be the theme of the party. He loves to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and talk back to Mickey every time he asks a question. Its pretty funny because most of the time he is right! I will be sure to take a lot of pictures.

Daily Devotional

If you live in the Houston area you know who Joel Osteen is. Even if you don't you have probably heard of him. Some people like him, some people don't. I personally view him as more of a motivational speaker. For a while now I have been receiving his Daily Devotionals. It includes a scripture, a mini lesson, and then a short prayer. I start every day with these devotionals. I try to read them during the 20 minutes or so I have in the morning to myself on the computer before my first class starts. I like to share these with people from time to time, especially the ones that really hit a soft spot. 2008 was a hard year for everyone, one way or another, and many of us are hoping 2009 will be different. I guess with today being the Presidential Inauguration we will see how much "change" Obama brings. Here is the first one I would like to share:

"You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance" (Psalm 65:11, NLT).

Do you see this year as being crowned with a bountiful harvest? Notice, God didn´t say He would crown with a "barely-get-by" harvest or a "just-let-me-survive" harvest. No, He blesses His people with an overflow harvest. Even the hard places overflow with abundance. Our attitude should be "2009 is going to be a great year. I can already sense it! Favor is coming my way. Blessings, good ideas, promotions already have my name on them!" As long as you stay faithful and keep sowing good seeds, eventually that harvest will find its way into your hands. Do your part to make sure you are ready to receive at the right time. Make sure you aren´t holding on to negative mindsets, mediocrity, disobedience, sin, fear, or anything that would hold you back or keep you from God´s best. I encourage you today to take inventory of your thoughts, attitudes, and actions. Ask the Lord to show you any area of your life that needs adjusting. As you keep an open and humble heart before the Him and diligently follow His commands, you will receive the bountiful harvest He has in store for you.

Father in heaven, thank You for Your peace, joy, and provision. I trust You today knowing that You have good things planned for me this year. Search my heart and know me so that I can live a life that is pleasing to You. In Jesus´ Name. Amen.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Happy Friday

First off, let me say congratulations to Jill and Royce. I am so excited they are having another boy. There is just something about little boys. Of course with husbands like Eddie and Royce who are still kids at heart, adding two sons to the mix will keep us very busy!

We are going today to look at wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses. Megan has one picked out already so I hope she likes it when she tries it on. Even though my sister-in-law got married last year I forgot about all of the little details that go into planning a wedding.

Eddie keeps going back and forth with what he wants to do as far as his job. He found a job posting today that he is really interested in and that he is very qualified for. I emailed his resume for him (I swear he needs a full time secretary) so we will see what happens. If you get time to say a prayer we would appreciate it.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Our kids are off on Monday but I get to sit through a meeting from 9 to 4. At least I can sleep in a little bit-5:15 am is just too early to be awake!

**I decided to go through my camera just to see what pictures I had on there. Some of them might be a little random. Megan has not downloaded the pictures from Christmas. We had an "Ugly Christmas Sweater Party" and it was hilarious. I will make sure she does it this weekend.

An August Wedding

My sister is getting married! She got engaged New Years Eve. Her and Heath have been dating for about a year and half and it has been obvious since day one this relationship would stick. They want a Hill Country wedding so we went this weekend to look at a few places. There is one place Megan loves so she is working out some details with the wedding planner so they can hopefully book it this week. I am a little stressed about the bridesmaids dresses because its not like I will be able to try one on. What would be the point? I guess I will just pick a size and hope it will works!

To All of You!

Are you tired of those sissy 'friendship' poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality?

Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of True Friendship.

You WON'T see cutesy little smiley faces on this card- Just the stone cold truth of our great friendship.

1. When you are sad,

I will jump on the person

who made you sad

like a spider monkey

jacked up on Mountain Dew!!!

2. When you are blue,

I will try to dislodge

whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile,

I will know you are

plotting something

that I must be involved in.

4. When you're scared,

we will high tail it out of here.

5. When you are worried,

I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse

it could be until you

quit whining, ya big baby!!!!

6. When you are confused,

I will use little words.

7. When you are sick,

Stay away from me

until you are well again.

I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall,

I'll pick you up

and dust you off--

After I laugh my butt off!!

9. This is my oath...

I pledge it to the end.

'Why?' you may ask; because you are my FRIEND!

*Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only YOU can feel the true warmth.

Catch-up

I guess not being in front of a computer everyday over the Christmas break has really put me behind. I have to admit that one reason I love this blog is because it gives me an escape in the middle of the day. Being around teenagers eight hours a day is a tough job! Anyway, our computer at home is upstairs and when you are six months pregnant stairs are not your friend!

We did have a great Christmas. Our friends joke with us and ask if we celebrate Hanukkah because Christmas for us seems to last just as long. It started with the Polar Express ride which I shared with you and seemed to never stop. We had Christmas Eve at Eddie's aunt and uncle's house and then Christmas morning was at home and some of the family came over for breakfast. Even though my parents came over Christmas morning we still went to their house that night to open presents. Cash now has enough tractors, bulldozers, front end loaders, and dump trucks to start his own construction company. Thanks to my sister he also has a set of drums! Luckily he hasn't driven us crazy with them. The big thing has been this remote control helicopter. I first bought one for Eddie because our nephew Jordan got one for Christmas and all the "big kids" wouldn't leave it alone. Eddie couldn't fly his around without Cash throwing a fit trying to take it away from him. Eddie lets him fly it but all he wants to do is shoot it straight up in the air and then watch it fall. So when we had Christmas at my grandmother's house a few days later after my aunt came in town, guess what Cash got...his very own helicopter. He is pretty good with gadgets though so he gets better everytime he plays with it. I have more to share about Christmas at my grandmother's but it is worth waiting for the pictures! The day after Christmas we went to Anderson to see Eddie's aunt and put in a landscape at her new house. Aunt Phalla is about the funniest person to be around so we of course had a great time. Other than going from one house to another we were at the deer lease. I don't think we were home with nothing to do but for maybe 4 days the whole 2 weeks!

New Year's Eve we went down the street to a friend's house. The kids popped fireworks and we all stood outside around the fire and talked. Cash started to get a little cranky and tired so our night ended early. There are some things you can not get through to a two year old. For example, he thought the sparklers were great because he got to walk around with them and wave them in the air but I don't think he ever fully realized that he was playing with fire! He knows what fire is and that it is hot and will hurt you but to him the sparklers were just another toy. I was a nervous wreck!! So for me spending the rest of the night sitting in the recliner by the fireplace wactching the ball drop in NYC was a great way to start the New year.

I went to the doctor yesterday. Colt's hartbeat is strong and he is kicking a lot these days. To no surprise my tummy is measuring a little big (here we go again) so I go back in two weeks for an ultrasound and then my regular appointment two weeks after that. This pregnancy is flying by. My doctor told me to go to the hospital sometime in the next month to pre register. We will deliver at Kingwood Hospital this time because my doctor no longer delivers at Memorial Herman. When it comes to certain things, like childbirth and surgery, I do not like change. Anything I have ever had done has been at Memorial Herman. I like Kingwood Hospital but not knowing my way around and not knowing what the nursery looks like and things like that make me nervous. So I am going to find the time to go tour the maternity ward before he is born.

I am back at work and trying to get in the swing of things. Not counting the week of spring break I have 13 weeks left until maternity leave starts. It also means I have two TAKS tests in the next 13 weeks. I love my job but I am looking forward to April 17th!

Eddie is sort-of looking for a new job. We kept this pretty quiet at first but now he doesn't care who knows. I guess he just feels like it is time to explore other options. He loves the grass farm and really does not want to leave. We are hoping he can find another job that will allow him to still do his own landscaping jobs on the side and still be a part of the grass farm. We actually sent his resume out for the first time last night so we will see what happens. Neither of us have really needed a resume in a while so I hope we did it right. We were both very stressed about this at first but I am more comfortable with it now and I know God has a plan for us.

This is probably more information than you wanted all at one time. Hopefully I can post pictures soon.
